How to Handle Acute Issues to Support Long Term Immunity

This is a really important episode because it’s probably one of the more difficult concepts to put into practice. We’ve all grown up with our own ways of dealing with symptoms and habits can be hard to break.  It’s important to understand that how you handle acute situations will have a profound impact on your immune system.

Our responses to acute illnesses either support or suppress the immune system.  Using pharmaceuticals, or even “natural” substances like colloidal silver or some essential oils, suppress the symptoms that are a result of an immune system doing its job.

Symptoms are not the problem.  They’re simply the language of the life force giving us information.

Restoring Immunity with Gemmotherapy

What’s the best way to restore and support immunity?

In my experience, the answer is with gemmotherapy.

What is gemmotherapy, you ask?  Let me introduce you…

Gemmotherapy extracts are made from the emerging buds & shoots from certain trees and shrubs and are made into a macerate.  These young tissues make up the most potent part of the plant, and contains minerals, trace elements, enzymes, and meristems cells of the plant.

The meristem cells, similar to human stem cells, are the growth cells of the plant and possess incredible regenerative properties.

Gemmotherapy is a powerful healing modality because of it’s affinity for certain organ systems. Extracts also have the ability to optimize elimination, has a dynamic influence on immunity, as well as the nervous system.

Gemmotherapy is a drainage therapy and the extracts are able to simultaneously clean, nourish, and fortify the cells of the body.  Gemmotherapy is also an approved medicine in the European Union.

Factors that Influence Immunity

Before we move on, we know that there are other important factors that go into building immunity.

Laying the Groundwork

I want to have a frank discussion about what it really takes to build immunity.

This Information Age that we live in is a double edged sword. On one side, we have an incredible the amount of information at our fingertips. We can look up anything we want in seconds! On the other hand, the sheer amount of information can be overwhelming and we don’t always use discernment, especially when what we’re looking at confirms our own beliefs and biases.

Right now I see many people asking about and taking supplements as the primary way to strengthen the immune system.

They’re taking extra Vitamin C, Vitamin D… some range of supplements they believe will help keep them healthy.

Supplementation can be a great way help support an already solid foundation of health and immunity.  I’m not opposed to supplementation at all.  I use supplements because they can be very beneficial when added to a healthy lifestyle.  I am opposed to supplementation without context or understanding.  Reading about something on the internet and  simply taking vitamins or herbs in isolation is not beneficial.

Fear of Illness

Inspirited Wellness Podcast – Episode 8: Fear of Illness

Today I want to talk to you about fear – specifically, about fear of illness.

Terror over disease has been escalating over the past several years – for many different reasons – but it’s really come to a head with the hysteria over the novel corona virus.

If you’re one of the people who are on the fearful side, I’m guessing that you probably have general fear or anxiety over all illnesses.  I don’t expect this podcast to fix the problem, but I’d like to put some things in perspective and offer some suggestions on how to deal with you fears.

On Fear

Fear is meant to be a temporary condition to alert us when something is wrong, or in reaction to danger.  It’s a survival mechanism.

It’s not meant to be a chronic state of being.  Living in a state of chronic fear and anxiety not only effects our mental and emotional health, but our physical health as well.  Over time, it breaks down and destroys our immune systems and will lead to even greater susceptibility to disease.

Poop: Are you doing it enough?

Inspirited Wellness Podcast, Episode 7 – Poop: Are you doing it enough?

Did the title of this episode make you cringe a little bit?  This is definitely not a topic that most people think about often, much less discuss publicly.

I want you to really think about the following two questions:

  1. How often do you think you should have a bowel movement?
  2. How many bowel movements do you have every day?

If you’re not sure, or had to think about your answers, then you really need to listen to this episode!

Is Homeopathy Compatible with Christianity?

Inspirited Wellness Podcast, Episode 6 – Is Homeopathy Compatible with Christianity?

Is homeopathy new age or demonic?  Apparently, some Christians think so.  I began looking into this idea and was appalled at the misinformation and ignorance by those with no understanding of homeopathy and how it works.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a Christian.

It’s not my intent to convince anyone of anything.  You’re free to believe anything you’d like – even it it’s not true.  If you have a sincere conviction that homeopathy goes against your religious beliefs, then stay true to your conviction and don’t use it.  But there’s no need to seek out some convoluted, blatantly false reason for your choice.  If your belief is based on faulty information, then you should educate yourself and seek out the truth.  At the very least, don’t repeat fictitious information!

Inspirited Wellness Podcast Episode 5 – Are Periods Necessary?  Changing the Narrative

If you follow my Facebook page, you may have seen my post last week linking an article titled, “Periods are Optional.  Here’s the Why and How.” I responded in this Facebook post,  but I have so much more to share so I did a podcast on the subject.

Women using birth control to stop their periods is nothing new, it’s been going on for years.  But this is the first time I’ve ever seen a doctor actually say that periods are optional, unnecessary, and that “some health experts believe you may be healthier without them.”

Managing Expectations – Episode 4

Inspirited Wellness Podcast Notes: Episode 4: Managing Expectations

I often get the opportunity to talk to people about their health challenges and goals and I find that many have unrealistic expectations about how things are going to happen, which leads to disappointment and disillusionment, which leads to giving up.  You can be successful in setting and achieving your health goals, but you have to be smart (and realistic) about what to expect and ensure that you’re setting yourself up for success.

Generally, I see 3 categories of people with unrealistic expectations:

Fever: Friend or Foe?

Inspirited Wellness Podcast Notes: Episode 3: Fever: Friend or Foe?

Do you have “fever-phobia?”   So many parents do!  Or maybe you don’t get anxious when your child falls ill, but the prevailing thought is that you treat a fever by giving a fever reducer and bringing down the temperature.

But how you respond to fevers can have a HUGE impact when it comes to the long-term health of your child.

Fever is your friend.  None of us like it when our kids get sick, but a good fever means that the immune system is in the game, actively fighting off whatever bug is in the system.  It also means that the immune system is learning how to respond and fight infections.
