How to Handle Acute Issues to Support Long Term Immunity

This is a really important episode because it’s probably one of the more difficult concepts to put into practice. We’ve all grown up with our own ways of dealing with symptoms and habits can be hard to break.  It’s important to understand that how you handle acute situations will have a profound impact on your immune system.

Our responses to acute illnesses either support or suppress the immune system.  Using pharmaceuticals, or even “natural” substances like colloidal silver or some essential oils, suppress the symptoms that are a result of an immune system doing its job.

Symptoms are not the problem.  They’re simply the language of the life force giving us information.

Cleaning

Discharges that are the result of illness are how the body cleans.  When you stop discharges with medication, the body will try to find another exit for inflammation and waste.  If there’s no alternate exit available, it leads to chronic inflammation and chronic disease states because you’ve effectively suppressed the only mechanism your body has to move inflammation out.

Suppressing symptoms prolongs an illness and confuses the body.

We always want to support the body’s work to heal and clean itself, and the result is that it becomes stronger and more resilient in the process.

Having a resilient immunity doesn’t mean that you never become sick. It means that your nervous and immune systems are able to function effectively in processing the myriad of bacteria, viruses, external trauma, or emotional shock without getting stuck. This doesn’t mean we can’t give a little help, but we have to be smart about how we help!  Gemmotherapy protocols that support the organs and improve function will help relieve suffering.

We want to support the natural healing process, not cause it to become stuck or confused.

On Fevers…

Before we get into the four steps to handle acute issues, it’s important to educate yourself about fevers.  Suppressing a fever is one of the single most damaging things you can do to your body.  Learning about the benefits of fevers will lessen the fear around it.

I recorded a podcast episode about this.  >>Here is a link to the show notes<<, which also contains a link to the podcast if you’d rather listen.

Four Steps to Handling Acute Issues to Build Long-Term Immunity

  1. Decrease the energy spent on digestion.  When the immune system has been activated, we often begin to feel very run down and tired.  As the immune system starts ramping up, we want resources free so that energy goes where it’s most needed.  Energy spent on digestion means less energy for the immune system.  Make sure you stay hydrated by increasing intake of clean water, herbal tea, or broth.  Eliminate dairy, sugar, bread, and meat.  Consuming small, nourishing, mostly plant-based meals will digest quickly and provide nourishment for your body.
  2. Rest.  This is a time where your body is cleaning, not only metabolic waste as it’s dealing with the virus/bacteria, but also other toxins that may have accumulated over time.  Consider this an invitation to rest and conserve energy for your immune system.  It’s also very important to make sure to rest through the convalescent period, if possible.  Have you ever thought you recovered from a cold or flu, but suddenly relapse?  Your immune system hadn’t quite completed its work!
  3. Support the kidneys.  Your kidneys work hard when you’re ill, so we want to support them in filtering the blood.  Gentle warmth over the kidney area can be helpful, just don’t overdo it with too much heat.
  4. Gemmotherapy protocols.  Again, how we respond to acute illnesses either support or suppress the body’s attempt to heal.  This is especially concerning with children, whose immune systems are developing and learning how to respond.  Suppressing a child’s symptoms confuses and weakens an immunity trying to mature.

Why I Choose Gemmotherapy First

Gemmotherapy protocols are very easy and straightforward.  I favor them (most of the time) over homeopathy because you can begin taking extracts as soon as you realize you may be getting sick, without any worry about trying to choose the correct homeopathic remedy.  Homeopathy is amazing, but at the beginning of an illness symptoms are often very general.  Homeopathy requires finding characteristic symptoms, which can vary from person to person, and aren’t always apparent until the illness progresses.

There are homeopathic protocols to try at the beginning of illnesses, but they don’t work for everyone because of the intensely individual way each person responds to illnesses.

Gemmotherapy immediately begins helping the immune system by supporting the adrenals and moving inflammation out.  Homeopathy can absolutely be added in, if needed, when symptoms progress.

I recorded a video on Gemmotherapy protocols for acute colds and flu.  You can find that >>HERE<<

You can also reach out to me if you’d like more support.  I offer chronic care and acute sessions, as well as an Exclusive Voxer Access program.

In Closing

As I’m closing, I realize that there’s another aspect to resilient immunity, and that’s taking charge of your brain.  I talked about the importance of harmonizing the nervous system in the previous episode, but we also want to start being intentional about our mindset and thought life.  (This is easier to do when we have a resilient nervous system!)  Our thoughts have an incredible influence on our physical bodies.  Getting a handle on how our thoughts create our feelings that lead to our actions and results, is an absolute game-changer in leading your best life.

Luckily, I already have you covered!  I created a Self-Coaching class a couple years ago, which is still available for free.  Simply >>send me a message<< and I’ll get that to you.

I hope you found this series helpful.  You have so much more control over your health and wellness than you’ve been led to believe.

I know you’ve got this, but I’m always here if you need help.

Wishing you peace, love, and prosperity.
