Words That Feed the Soul

I recently participated in my friend Renee’s Soul Purpose Success Challenge.  One part of the challenge involved coming up an affirmation to counter the energy of fear that’s so pervasive when it comes to stepping out and speaking your truth.  Since I’ve never really been an affirmation or mantra person, this was a little tough for me.  I enjoy other people’s affirmations but have never really taken the time to come up with any that speak into my life.  I acknowledged the fear but I kind of glossed over the mantra part….and Renee noticed!

As chance would have it, I came across Craig Groeschel’s message, Words to Live By.  He states that “Our life always moves in the direction of our strongest thoughts.”  How true!  We all suffer from periods of anger, fear, resentment, and negative thinking.  The problem is when we spend too much time wallowing in those emotions – it can leave us feeling stuck and unfulfilled, spinning our wheels and going nowhere.  Speaking affirmations can be a potent way to help train ourselves and move our energy to the good, the pure, and the lovely.  To renew and redirect our minds to positive, life-affirming thoughts.  If we can cultivate this habit (and it is a habit!), it becomes harder for those darker impressions to take root in our heads and take up residence there.  We can more easily process and move on.  Finding your own words that feed the soul can be a powerful tool.

(If you suffer from more deeply rooted fear or anxiety, homeopathy can be tremendously helpful.  Long-term, chronic anxiety may need a consultation with a homeopath, but here’s a great post for acute issues.)

Craig has amassed quite a list of biblical “Words to Live By” on his website here.  You can find Renee here – I’m sure she’ll run her challenge again!  Here are a few that I borrowed and tweaked to make my own:

  • I am anointed, empowered, equipped and called to reach people and help them take charge of their health.
  • I wake up with purpose, direction, and meaning every day of my life.
  • I bring my best and then some.  It’s what I bring after I do my best that makes the difference.
  • I am fierce in confidence and boldness because God is with me.
  • I love people and believe the best about others.
  • I am not a people-pleaser because I answer to God first and seek to please Him.
  • I will love and laugh rather than fight and complain.
  • The peace of God will guard my heart and mind.

What are your thoughts?  Do you have your own soul-filling affirmations?  I’d love to hear them so post them in the comments.  Declare them loud and clear!

Sapare aude!
